Coming to the End of the School Year

June 12th, 2009

And a fine one it was. As a first time Bus Driver I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at the wheel with such a fine bunch of students. I am looking forward to the summer “off”.

However, we are not done quite yet. The high-schoolers are now finished classes but exam time is still on. The Bowen Buses will be following the schedule set by WVSS and is as follows.

Monday June 15 Regular AM Pickup Meet the 3:30 Ferry
Tuesday June 16 Regular AM Pickup Meet the 3:30 Ferry
Wednesday June 17 Regular AM Pickup Meet the 12:30 Ferry
Thursday June 18 No Pickup No Bus Service
Friday June 19 Regular AM Pickup Meet the 12:30 Ferry
Monday June 22 Regular AM Pickup Meet the 12:30 Ferry
Tuesday June 23 Regular AM Pickup Meet the 12:30 Ferry
Wednesday June 24 No Pickup No Bus Service
Thursday June 25 Regular AM Pickup Meet the 12:30 Ferry
Friday June 26 Sleeping in

BICS will be as normal with the last day being Thursday June 25 with the afternoon being early dismissal.

And not to pour cold water on anyone but the return to school after the summer will be September First, a bit earlier than usual due to the scheduled time off during the Olympics in February.

Easter Break

April 9th, 2009

So we have now started a four day Easter Break. The buses will roll out again Tuesday morning.

Have a nice long weekend everyone.

Spring Break comes to an end

March 21st, 2009

And so the we all anticipate an uneventful return to the routines we all know and love so well. Se you Monday morning at the usual times and at the usual places. We look forward to hearing about your holiday adventures.

February 25 Update

February 25th, 2009

Plows and salt trucks are running, and all BICS runs are continuing on schedule. High school runs are also expected to run on schedule; check back here in case the situation changes.

Heavens above!!

February 25th, 2009

As I look out the window I can see (insert the “S” word here) falling and sticking to the trees and the ground. We started the month with (insert the “S” word here) and it sure looks like we are going to be ending with it too.

So, watch this place for the latest updates on the School Buses. We will be soldiering on.

This week is Heritage Week

February 17th, 2009

This week, on the afternoon buses, we will be having people from the Bowen Island Heritage Preservation Society doing readings and stories while the children are being transported home. This will be a fun event which, I am certain, the kids will enjoy. It is a very beneficial practise to help our children become more aware of the heritage of our interesting community.

From the roads and weather perspective, things have settled down to something more “normal” and all is well.

February 10 Update

February 10th, 2009

Update 2:10 PM

So at this stage all buses will be running this afternoon, BICS & High School.

What a weird way to begin the day. Parts of the island were blindingly decimated and some never touched.

Update at 10:30AM:

The Kindergarten runs will be done at 11:15 as usual. The afternoon runs are anticipated to be done as of this update but the forcast is for more of this so watch this space for more accrate information by 2PM.

Routes one and three, West Side and across the middle of the island, have canceled this morning due to blowing snow and accumulations of 2 to 3 inches, neither high school nor BICS service is running on these routes. Route Two, Hood Point, Millers & Seven Hills and Cates Hill (different climate conditions entirely), is still ok.

Buses in Horseshoe By are running normally

An assement will be made shortly as to Kindergarden and afternoon runs.

More L&F, Recognise anything?

February 2 2009 Update

February 2nd, 2009

As of 6:30am the buses have left the yard and everything appears to be running normally.

I thought we lived in a RAIN forest!

February 1st, 2009

Well, this snow is going to make Monday an interesting day for School Buses on Bowen Island. The muni plows and sanders have been out all day but the forecast is for more of this snow over-night and also for lower temperatures.

Watch this blog tomorrow morning for the latest information. We will be at the bus yard and making the call sometime after 6:30 as to what we will be able to do.

Maybe we should have stocked up on one horse open sleighs??

Welcome
